Every month, we're going to feature one of our staff members. As this is the e-letter's maiden voyage, it seemed fitting to profile our director and founder, Marilyn Mosley.
Marilyn is not only a wonderful employer, but also a wonderful person. She's warm and caring and if it weren't for her vision, none of us would be here. Under her leadership, Laurel Springs has grown from its grass roots beginnings to become one of the world's foremost accredited homeschool and independent study programs, serving children from thirty- eight countries and forty-seven states!
In conjunction with a team of master educators, Marilyn developed an innovative and varied curriculum that honors her principal philosophy: Every child is a living treasure, and possesses the capacity for genius. Marilyn has said, "The best learning environment is one that is loving and supportive. What matters most to children is that they have family, friends, and teachers who say 'I know who you are, I love you, I admire you, I believe in you.' We at Laurel Springs honor the uniqueness of each of our students and appreciate the myriad learning styles they present to us."
In addition to being an educational pioneer, Marilyn also serves as the President of the Global 500 Environmental Forum. It was in that capacity that she recently went to Beirut, Lebanon for World Environment Day. We're happy to welcome her home, and eagerly await her report.
Finally, it should be noted that this is Marilyn's birth month! She deserves to shine.
Next month will feature another staff member. The featured person could be an enrollment counselor, a member of Online, a curriculum writer, or even our unofficial school mascot, Gaia the Dog! Eventually, we hope to introduce you to every one of the many people that contribute to making Laurel Springs the nation's premier K-12 independent study program.
