| Alexa, still 15, had an outstanding run in New York. Playing only her 2nd WTA Tour event, she reached the semifinals at Forest Hills (a US Open tuneup event) knocking out the #1 seed Akiko Morigami en route. Following that, she played for the first time in the US Open Women's Main Draw at Flushing Meadows and won her first round match in straight sets! She was the youngest player in this Grand Slam event. We are so proud of her. She will skyrocket in the WTA tour rankings making her the youngest American in the Top 250 players on the WTA tour! | ||
