Text-based Curriculum

Text-Based Curriculum 4th-8th

The younger grades are a time for exploration, emotional growth, physical development, and fun! Our textbook curriculum addresses the reading and writing processes with care and with sensitivity to the tremendous love of learning inherent in each child. Text-based curriculum uses books that have been carefully selected for their interest and appeal. Included with each text is a complete 36-lesson syllabus (study guide) with weekly lessons giving support and structure.

Younger grades use the beautiful English texts and workbooks by Silver Burdett & Ginn. Junior High grades use "The Language of Literature," which emphasizes active reading and the writing process in preparation for High School. Saxon Math is used through grades 4th-8th; the program includes tests and answer books. (Spectrum Math is also available.) Science uses the literature-based program "Discover the Wonder," Scott-Foresman texts, for 1st-6th grades; Life Science is presented in the 7th grade and Physical Science in the 8th grade. History discovers the world through Houghton-Mifflin texts for 2nd-8th grades.
