High School ProgramOur college acceptance rates are unparalleled in the field of distance learning. The Laurel Springs high school program is designed to get students into college. Laurel Springs offers two college prep services to students, one is an online, self-directed program (MyEdge) and the other is an intensive college prep and placement service where students work closely with a coach/mentor (CollegeKey). Both services offer tools and resources for college and career planning. Laurel Springs high school students continuously excel in their curricula and as a result, their SAT scores are higher than the national average and they go on to the best colleges and universities. Our program gives young people the opportunity to integrate their personal interests and goals with their education in preparation for college and all of their life journeys. Our WASC-accredited distance learning high school offers a wonderful selection of core academic courses required for graduation and college requirements. We also offer a wide variety of choices for elective studies. Students may construct a high school curriculum for general education or entrance to college. Students can take a full course load or make up credits at any time of year through concurrent enrollment. Families can combine the following curriculum options to create an optimal learning experience:
Our classes are divided into 36 weekly assignments per year (18 per semester) and can make required subjects such as English, math, and science both stimulating and inspiring. Learn about our All Inclusive Pricing. Web-Based CoursesLaurel Springs School is an innovator in the field of online, or Web-based, education. We have nearly 80 online classes, including honors and special needs offerings, fulfilling NCAA criteria and a-g admission requirements established by the University of California. Now, with the introduction of Aurora Version 6 , Laurel Springs School’s new online course delivery system, Web-based learning is easier than ever! With our revolutionary new software, a student views and works on lessons at his or her own online desk, located in our password-protected Student Center. Being supportive and encouraging is one of the most effective tools a parent can provide their child during this phase of education. That’s why we make it simple for parents to log on and quickly track their child’s progress. Color-coding shows each lesson as yet-to-be-started, in progress, completed, or graded. Teacher comments, constantly updated grades and parent conferences help complete the picture, indicating areas of strength and potential areas for growth. When students have questions or problems, they can post a request from within the system or e-mail requests for help to their teachers. Our online technical staff handles e-mail requests about technical problems and will respond the following business day. Text-Based CoursesOur High School textbook curriculum addresses academic subjects with care and an emphasis on critical thinking skills. With text-based courses in the core subject areas of English, Science, Math, Social Studies, Foreign Language and Fine Arts or elective subjects, students can prepare for college, complete honors-level work, or make up courses missed due to extenuating circumstances. All Laurel Springs textbooks are carefully chosen based on the quality of their academic content, their visual appeal, and their suitability for a wide range of learning styles. As in our online classes, our text-based syllabi are divided into 18 weekly assignments per semester. Yearlong classes consist of 36 weekly assignments. Our text-based college prep and honors courses also fulfill UC a-g admission requirements. We have textbook-based courses available for all high school grades and for special needs, honors and college preparatory levels. Honors CoursesThe Laurel Springs Honors Program goes beyond meeting the needs of college-bound students seeking a challenging academic curriculum in a personalized distance learning environment. Our students are given the opportunity to reach their highest potential by exploring their own unique interests and realizing their personal goals. We provide students with the critical thinking tools, in-depth research avenues, and writing skills so essential for success. A combination of advanced materials and instructor feedback provides honors students with a rigorous and rewarding course of study. Many of our honors classes are U.C. approved for U.C. honors credit. Note: Honors students must choose either the Level B or Level C tuition option.
